New Book Teaches How to Use Intuition for Healing and Guidance
Edna Castillo has written a dynamic new book that teaches us all to look inside ourselves for the answers we need. Living Your Intuitive Genius: How to Tap Into Your Soul to Heal Your Body, Mind, and Spirit lives up to its title’s promises. And it is able to do that because Edna has applied the principles she teaches to her own life, as best manifested in her journey with breast cancer. Early in the book, Edna discusses how she found answers by saying:
“If you are asking why you are living with a health condition, I say let go of the why, and at the same time, ask your Source to send you the answer. We don’t have to find the why—the mystery is part of the gift—but in some cases, the answer may be helpful. This is what happened to me. I understood how powerful my thoughts are; the breast cancer diagnosis was evidence of the power of my mind. And it has now allowed me to experiment more with other aspects of my thoughts. Keeping my thoughts reined in and trusting the process of life has become my primary mode of operation.”
Edna believes she both indirectly caused her breast cancer and intentionally healed it. I’ll let her tell her story, but it boils down to how she thought and talked to herself about her body, first negatively, and then how she shifted to more positive thinking. After receiving the diagnosis, rather than resist or fight it, she chose to embrace it as a learning experience. She says, “In resistance we find more pain and suffering, so leaving victimhood behind and knowing that suffering is a choice is the first step to transforming our lives.”
Ultimately, Edna realized that what caused her breast cancer was not that important. She let go of the why and embraced the what—the problem that she now saw as a gift to lead her to new knowledge and purpose. This type of acceptance can lead to a better connection with the intuitive powers we rarely use but that reflect our inner genius. Edna knows all of life is a process and has purpose. We just need to learn to trust life and the intuitive genius that can guide us.
Because we all have an intuitive genius, Edna says we all have the power to have, create, give, and be anything we wish. She states, “You are a creative source. You can create your own reality and outperform your own self-image once you trust, believe, and expect to receive.” However, Edna realizes that is easier said than done. Sometimes our limiting paradigms or false beliefs prevent us from living the life we are meant to; they keep us believing we do not deserve what we want.
Edna knows such obstacles are difficult to overcome. As an immigrant to the United States from Guatemala, she often felt torn between cultural expectations and the American belief in personal freedom. Her religious upbringing ladened her with guilt that caused her to stay in an unhappy marriage. In the end, she decided to do what was best for her, and she embraced living a life of courage, one that consists of small acts taken that your intuitive genius tells you are right for you.
Over time, Edna has learned to trust where her intuitive genius directs her. She spent years working in corporate America, but she did not feel fulfilled. She then switched to the nonprofit sector, but she still found herself thinking, “Is this all there is?” She wanted to do something else, but she didn’t know what. Through synchronicity, devised by her burning desire and expectation to know the answer precisely on the day she demanded to hear the answer, she happened upon a podcast discussing life coaching. She had never heard of life coaches before, but once she did a little research, she knew she was meant to be one.
Living Your Intuitive Genius is the result of what Edna has learned, and it includes strategies she teaches as a life coach. It is filled with exercises, inspiring stories, motivational quotes, and some honest discussion about how we can live in a way that make us feel balanced in body, mind, and spirit. Edna discusses everything from how to use positive affirmations to surrendering to life to let it lead you where you need to go. Rather than living in fear, she encourages us to be curious, which leads to new discoveries and adventures. Best of all, she reminds us that the Universe always has our back because we are part of it.
Many personal development authors talk about the power of affirmations, but Edna is the first I know of to show how the phrase “I am” frequently used in affirmations provides a spiritual connection. She reminds us that in the Bible “I AM” is God’s name. She says that when we make “I am” statements, we are affirming God is within us and we are one with God. It reminds us that we are spiritual beings living in a spiritual universe and that universe is supporting us and manifesting our desires.
Living Your Intuitive Genius is filled with wonderful quotes, but perhaps the most powerful for me comes from the Sufi mystic Rumi, who said, “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” One barrier Edna brilliantly clarifies is that we tend to think of God as outside us; that belief causes us to pray in a way where we are asking for something we feel we lack. When we live our intuitive genius, we remember God is inside us so we already have the answers we need.
Some of Edna’s wisdom may take some time and thought to absorb and apply, but it is all presented in a readable, friendly format that your intuitive genius will help you process. After all, your intuitive genius probably led you to reading this review, and now you know where to look to explore your intuitive genius further.
