New Book Guides Reader on Journey From Reducing Debt to Mastering Wealth
Whether you are just starting to save, are ready for retirement, or are wondering if you’ll ever be able to afford to retire, Tanisha Souza’s new book Creating Your Income SnowballTM: Your Passive Investing Cheat Code to Mastering Wealth will provide you with insight, advice, and a world of possibilities to better your financial situation.
This is far from your typical book of investment advice. Souza shares her personal story of how she and her husband overcame debt, began investing, and began teaching others their methods. The result was Souza’s Income Snowball method and the founding of her and her husband’s company, Tardus. For years, Souza, her husband, and their team of wealth coaches have been helping Tardus’ clients reduce their debt and grow their wealth. Now in Creating Your Income SnowballTM, Souza shows how her family and her many clients have achieved financial freedom. The book is divided into two sections—Part I: Creating Your Income Snowball, and Part II: Designing Your Next Investment Journey—both of which contain advice, information, and practical application.
In Part I, Souza shares how you can achieve complete financial freedom in less than ten years and how it is even possible to do it in five. In fact, Souza and her husband did it in two. Like 57 percent of working adults, Souza was once a stressed-out employee with debt, and the financial stress negatively affected her sleep and mental and physical health. She discusses how she learned to change her mindset and actions, and how her life made a 180-degree turn as a result. Once she and her husband began investing in real estate and creating passive income, they became financially free when Souza was twenty-nine and her husband thirty-five.
Souza walks readers through a series of chapters, beginning with helping the reader to identify their destructive money mindsets. She offers some quizzes to help you determine your investing style and which financial guru you would invest like. She also provides numerous stories about clients who made right and wrong choices with inheritances and investing to illustrate the various pitfalls and opportunities that can arise. In fact, the entire book shows that many paths exist for achieving one’s financial goals, each with its own set of lessons and rewards. The lessons can sometimes be painful, so Souza provides advice to help the reader not make the same mistakes as some of the people in the stories. She discusses the eight wealth blockers, including lack of financial education, keeping up with the Joneses’ lifestyle, and herd-mentality investing, and she illustrates how these operate throughout the book’s stories.
Topics covered in Part I include identifying your personal why, investing for debt freedom, investing for passive income, performing due diligence with investments, preparing for worst-case scenarios, and networking to find the right financial advisors, coaches, and tax experts to work with.
While I can’t discuss everything in Creating Your Income SnowballTM, I love that Souza starts with the question of why you want to invest. She shares stories of parents missing important moments with their children or people wanting to create non-profits or help loved ones who are ill. Too many people have mindsets that rich people achieve their wealth by taking advantage of others, but Souza dispels the myths that to be rich is to be crooked or to take from others. She shows how wealth can be used benevolently as well as to reduce stress and free up time for the more important things in life, including people.
A large part of the book’s focus is on how to develop real estate by buying and renting properties. Souza states that “The primary driver behind buying real estate should not be the expectation that the property’s value will increase. The main reason for buying real estate is that it produces regular monthly income.” She explores how to find the right properties, how to avoid mistakes, how to find people to manage your properties if you don’t feel able to do so, and how to use your rental income to make future investments until you achieve financial freedom.
Part II is the fun part of the book. It allows the reader to design their own investment journey by offering them three choices of which character in their personal story they want to be: the stock market analyst, the rental property researcher, or the excellent saver. Going back to the idea of knowing your why for investing, the different characters have different reasons for investing, including helping a sister pay her medical bills or creating a nonprofit to help children in need. Once you decide which character you wish to be, you are presented with choices about how to invest your money. With each choice you make, you can experience financial success or financial failure and then figure out how to overcome the challenges or continue to grow your investments. The journeys range from investing in high-yield bonds to a once-in-a-lifetime Artificial Intelligence investment opportunity or using crowdfunding.
While the possibilities are fun to explore, by participating in the story, the reader will also experience a deeper look at the beliefs, actions, and habits they need to change to have true and lasting financial success. Souza created the story part of the book to provide a virtual learning experience for readers—a sort of trial run—before they begin their own investing journey since all the information provided is of little value if not applied, and while we learn by trial and error, she hopes we will learn with as little error as possible.
Creating Your Income SnowballTMis one of the best financial investing books I have ever read. It has made me rethink the possibilities for my own financial future. I feel I’ve already been making good choices to avoid debt and save, but like Part II of this book, it has opened up new possibilities I am eager to explore. I believe anyone who reads this book will feel like fireworks are going off in their head as they suddenly realize they truly can experience financial freedom and far more quickly than investing in a 401k would have you believe. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your wealth without reservation.
