Sandi Berger, longtime fitness coach and owner of Life by Design Fitness, has a Fitnevision—a vision for being fit—and that is only the tip of the iceberg. Sandi has written this book to inspire others to get their own fitnevisions, which includes not only envisioning having a healthy body but also a healthy, happy mind. FITNEVISION: For the Fit Mind and Body is not your everyday exercise book. It's not about your abs or how many reps you can do, although it might inspire you to focus on those things. Nor is it another self-help book about positive thinking. It's a practical blend of all that and more; it's a book of inspiration and exercises that will help you to create a fitnevision for yourself so you can envision what you want, see yourself succeeding, and take action to obtain it. In the pageant of American history, the American Revolution is the ultimate pivotal moment, and the bravery shown by the early patriots cannot be denied when they fought for what they believed in—freedom from government control and unfair taxation. Many of those patriots died before ever knowing their cause had succeeded. Among those martyrs to the cause of freedom was Nathan Hale, famous today for his final words, “I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” But who was Nathan Hale really, and what motivated him to die so bravely? Becky Akers has brought Nathan Hale’s past alive in her new novel Halestorm, a book with a clever pun in its title much like the puns she depicts Nathan Hale as having loved. Akers’ fiction brings alive the time of the American Revolution in beautifully written prose and in a manner that nonfiction can never achieve. To read more, visit Halestorm. |
Robert Murray’s new book It’s Already Inside: Nurturing Your Innate Business Leadership for Life Success is more than a “How To” business book or even one that claims to reveal the secrets of business leadership. I’ve read a lot of business and self-help books over the years, and often, they tend to say the same thing. The key is how the message comes across in these books—do they inspire the reader or not? It’s Already Inside stands apart from the crowd—dare I say it’s a leader among business books—precisely because the message is clearer than in many, the examples are uniquely all Murray’s own, and he does not rely on quoting from all the other experts or repeating often told tales of previous entrepreneurs. Instead, Murray tells his own story and the stories of people he has known well who have become respected leaders. Each story is told with purpose and insight. Sam Moffie’s To Kill the Duke may well be the funniest and most entertaining novel ever written about Hollywood and movie history. And Moffie is not afraid of casting some of Hollywood's biggest legends, both in terms of movie stars, directors, producers, and films—for his plot and characters. This time Moffie has penned a hilarious re-creation of the filming of The Conqueror, reputedly one of the worst films ever made, although it had everything going for it that should have made it a hit—an all star cast, including John Wayne, Susan Hayward, and Agnes Moorehead; being directed by Dick Powell, himself a screen legend; and being produced by Howard Hughes. Moffie creates a fictionalized (but not too fictionalized) version of the film's production, which is truly stranger than fiction and had some notable flaws. John Wayne as Genghis Khan just wasn't believable.... To read more, visit To Kill the Duke. |
